Marsha Knicley

Founder|Owner

Marsha is an internationally trained hairdresser and colorist who has led Sagittarius Salon's success since 1973. The salon is a member of Intercoiffure, the most prestigious organization in the beauty industry. Marsha is a platinum member of the National Cosmetology Association and an active member of the Professional Beauty Association. She is also founder of "Life is a Gift," a non-profit organization that supports women cancer survivors.

Jordon Knicley

Owner|Marketing/Advertising Director|Makeup Artist|Boutique Buyer

Jordon Knicley was born and raised in the salon industry, inspired by her mother, Marsha Knicley. Jordon’s passion for the beauty industry led her to Aveda Corporation in Washington, D.C. While working for Aveda, Jordon became a makeup artist and continued her education with the top artists in the makeup industry.  Jordon has drawn upon her unique skill set to expand the Advertising and Marketing Division. The creative voice behind Urban Violet Boutique, Jordon wanted to bring more to Sagittarius guests by offering top accessories, including jewelry, handbags, and scarves that are edgy and fun! .

In Jordon's free time she likes to spend time with her two puppies Charlie and Wilson. She also enjoys tennis, wreath making and interior design.

Molly Yarrington

Senior Stylist/Colorist|Balayage Specialist|Curly Hair Specialist

Molly started her career with Sagittarius in 2010.  She began as an apprentice in the certified Sagittarius Educational Training Program.

Her advanced education journey includes Master color expert through Wella Professionals, Balayage with Candy Shaw, Vidal Sassoon cutting, Bumble and bumble cutting and various other artists.

Molly uses her versatile knowledge to give each guest the look they are dreaming of; male or female looking for a tailored, trendy or lived in style.  Her well rounded artistry allows her to meticulously create everyone’s individual desires.

Molly loves to create dimensional color especially natural balayage.  Balayage is a personal favorite as it can give so many different results.  This gives each guest a low maintenance subtle look to a bold, bright beautiful blonde.

In her free time Molly enjoys spending time with her children, Finley and Atticus, her husband, Shane, cooking, gardening and her two cats.

Amy Perry-Mechem

Senior Stylist/Colorist|Bumble and bumble Network Educator|Salon Director|Curly Hair Specialist|Oribe Signature Stylist

Being in the industry for over 15 years, Amy's home has always been at Sagittarius Salon and Spa.

Graduating from Award Beauty School she furthered her career and education with various advanced classes.  In 2014 Amy became a Bumble and Bumble Network Educator; learning the craft of educating clients became her passion. She loves recommending the perfect product and style for every guest.  Recently Amy was chosen to become the Oribe Salon Ambassador.

In 2018 Amy attended Vidal Sassoon Academy and completed the Educator Program.  Amy passes on her knowledge onto the new upcoming stylists as the Education Director and the Salon Director at Sagittarius.

Haircutting is one of her favorite things; from razor cutting to scissor cutting, she creates long flowing layers or any type of bob you can imagine.  When it comes to color Amy loves to creative beautiful lived in looks.  If you're looking for color maintenance Amy can guide you into having flawless haircolor.

Amy loves living up on the mountain in West Virginia. She loves cooking, creating new dishes and exploring all types of food.  She loves camping and spending time outside the salon with friends and family. She is a newlywed to her husband John, has a cat named Philip and a new little female kitten coming soon.

Lorah Nye-Brooks

Master Stylist/Colorist|Bridal Designer|Curly Hair Specialist

As a highly trained stylist and a staple at Sagittarius, Lorah has made a career out of making people look and feel beautiful for over 30 years. Her Specialties include Razor cutting and Dimensional Color.  This is a great way to add depth and movement to your style!

I love the beauty industry and enjoy getting to know my clients so I can customize the best look for them and make sure they can recreate the look at home. With a drive for honing her skills through continuing her education, you can always feel confident sitting in Lorah's chair. Whether short or long, curly or straight she will make you look and feel your absolute very best!Lorah believes that every client is like a piece of art; a new canvas to create a look that is effortless and easy to recreate at home. When she is not working, she loves cooking, attending concerts, camping and hiking!  We can't forget to mention her dog, and sidekick, Lucy!

Phaedra Mercer

Senior Stylist/Colorist|Shag Specialist

Phaedra has been in the beauty industry for 34 years and all of those years have been devoted as a team member of Sagittarius Salon and Spa.

She loves people and loves making them feel good by giving them the best experience when they come into the salon.

She loves doing cuts, coloring, foiling and perms.  Phaedra loves our mature guests and is experienced with creating the best cut and style for fine, thinning hair.

Phaedra has trained with Bumble and Bumble, Wella and Beth Minardi.

In her free time Phaedra loves to spend time with her kids Hannah and Ethan, her husband Alan and spending time at home listening to music and riding the Harley!

Nichole Preston-Vogt

Senior Stylist/Colorist|Bridal Designer

Nichole loves creating dimensional balayage for a slightly sunkissed look on natural hair.  She enjoys precision cutting, creating sassy bobs or stylist men's cuts. Nichole is excellent with long hair, designing eye catching updos and down styling's. Nichole's loves being able to bring service to her clients with a laugh and a smile.

Team member since 2004, Nichole was on of the first talented attendees of our Advanced Training Program and continues to reflect her talent and skills on new team members. Nichole has trained at Aveda, Redken, Bumble and Bumble, Loreal Advanced Balayage and Wella Professional in New York, Vidal Sassoon in LA and Vidal Sassoon Academy in Chicago. She is also involved in salon charity events heading up Alex's Lemonade Stand hosted every August for Childhood Cancer Research.

In her free time she enjoys trying out new recipes in the kitchen and attending her sons soccer games at Mount St. Marys Univerity.

Brittany Bonner

Senior Stylist/Colorist|Blonde Enthusiast

Brittany has been a part of the Sagittarius Team since 2014.  

Brittany specializes in blondes, long hair, and balayage.  She enjoys working with all types of hair but creating long and sexy layers with soft  waves is her favorite.  

She strives for each client to feel beautiful, glowing and confident with their new look when they leave her chair.

She loves spending time with her son Lincoln, trying to keep her plants alive and chasing after her new puppy Rosy.

Joselyne Mendez

Senior Stylist/Colorist|Bridal Designer|Extension Specialist

Growing up Joselyne was surrounded by the beauty industry. From a young age she watched her mom make people beautiful and feel good about themselves. She knew she wanted to follow in her mom's footsteps from the beginning.

In 2009, Joselyne began her career at Sagittarius, while attending Washington Country Technical High School for Cosmetology. After completing her education and receiving her cosmetology license from Tech High, she enrolled in the Sagittarius Advanced Training Program. Ever since, Joselyne has continued to excel in her craft.

Loving everything about the beauty industry, she has found her niche in creating beautiful colors and cutting the perfect layers to accent long hair. Joselyne was born in Ecuador, and her Latino background influences her work. She is excellent with creating lighter tones on darker hair and working with various textures. She also specializes in updos as a part of our Bridal Team.

Joselyne is certified in all extension techniques with Bellami Professionals, focusing on hand tied and volume weft extensions.

Outside of work she loves spending time with her husband, three beautiful children and their fur babies!

Michael Carbaugh

Massage Therapist

Michael Carbaugh is a Registered  Maryland Massage Practitioner.  He has actually  been practicing massage since 2009;  prior to Sagittarius he has worked in Berkeley Springs, WV,  and Frederick, MD.  Over the course of his career he has had the privilege of being trained in Reflexology, Cranio-Sacral therapy, Hot Stone massage, Cupping and Thai Massage. Michael's specialties are shoulder work and hot stones. Michael greatly enjoys finding tension patterns, and correspondingly treating the body as a whole rather than focusing the entire session in one area.

Megan Hovermale

Randall McFarland

Senior Stylist/Colorist|Bridal Designer|Blowouts with Volume

Team member since 2011, Randall began her career at Sagittarius while finishing up cosmetology school locally. She quickly excelled through the salon's advanced training program while discovering her passions: styling and balayage.

 Randall excels in hand painted dimensional colors; whether it's with blondes, brunettes or redheads! She loves creating lived in color that allows the client to maintain their hair in a way realistic for their lifestyle. Randall is also passionate about blow outs that last for days! Her goal is to make sure you leave as the sassiest version of yourself, and you are able to recreate your signature look at home. 

On Saturdays you'll often find Randall creating beautiful updos for our brides or traveling to their venues. She loves tousled and textured styles, giving her brides an effortless, glamorous, and timeless look. 

With education being a necessity in the beauty industry, Randall loves to keep her techniques and skills fresh while learning from the best in the industry; ranging from: Dusty Rhode, Stephanie Brinkerhoff, Beth Minardi, and various artists from Wella, Oribe, and Bumble and Bumble. She's constantly finding the latest techniques on social media to keep up with the trends!

When she's not in the salon, Randall is busy homeschooling her daughter and hanging out with their bunny. She also loves traveling and visiting her home state of South Carolina! Go Gamecocks!

Bethanie Martin

Stylist/Colorist|Bridal Designer

Bethanie has graduated from The Temple: A Paul Mitchell Partner School, in Frederick MD. Originally born in the small town of Smithsburg, MD, she lived in New Jersey for 7 years before returning to her hometown. 

While attending school and working at Sagittarius for over a year, she is also a travel hair and makeup artist. Working many weddings and photo shoot; Bethanie can’t wait to share her creativity with you. 

Bethanie has a love for braids, bridal, and blonding/dimensional services. 

Bethanie wants to build strong connection with each and every guest and make them feel their absolute best. Everyone is unique and they should be able to fully express what that looks like for them. She can’t wait to start her career at Sagittarius and grow her skills and craft behind the chair!

Lexi Coughlin

Esthetician/ Makeup Artist/ PCA expert

Hello everyone, I’m Lexi! I graduated from International Beauty School Esthetics program in Martinsburg, WV in 2021. I specialize in female brazilian waxes, relaxation and corrective facials, as well as special event makeup.

Jordan Glushakow

Jordan graduated from Tech High School in 2021.  She always loved the beauty industry, she pursued this career because she loves making guests feel more confident and beautiful.  Jordan excels at men's cuts, stylings and blonding.

Outside the salon Jordan loves to play the guitar, hang out with friends and play with her cat Onyx.

Genet Butera

Genet was educated at The Temple: A Paul Mitchell Partner School in Frederick MD; and has been in the industry for 5 years.
